Book Safes
A simple book safe
A book with a hole in it (A Holy Book?) is easy to cut if you happen to have a bandsaw, but can be done in a very low tech way using an Exacto knife and a straight edge.
When my mother moved into an apartment for senior citizens, she asked for a book safe to keep personal items private, just in case she might have uninvited visitors in her new home, not to be unduly suspicious, but she didn’t want to provide temptations if she didn’t have to. The book safes I gave her were PERFECT!
Book safes make excellent hiding places, but can be used in many other ways, as well.
Fake succulents made from painted river rocks and tissue paper. The hole was made by drilling a book with a circular doorknob drill bit.

I have a number of other book safe applications, like the Dia de los Muertos shrines and the gun hiding book, that will be future features at CraftyBibliophile.com,
